Agroforestry & Climate Resilience — Karaga
Community-driven climate adaptation in Karaga District. Youth-led agroforestry, soil conservation, and natural resource management to improve food security and ecological sustainability.
Empower for Development Ghana has co-created and designed the following initiatives to advance our vision and mission. We are actively seeking funding and partnerships to bring these interventions to life.
A youth-led climate education and advocacy initiative aimed at strengthening climate literacy and community resilience in rural Northern Ghana. The project will train young people as Climate Action Ambassadors to promote climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices among farmers in selected communities of the Kumbungu District.
Through community dialogues, storytelling sessions, training workshops, and social media advocacy, YACA seeks to empower youth leadership in climate action while supporting farmers to better adapt to climate change and environmental challenges.
A youth-led peace and climate resilience initiative that brings together farmers, Fulbe herders, youth, women, and community leaders in conflict-affected communities in the Mion, Karaga and Gushegu districts, Northern Region.
Through intergenerational storytelling, restorative healing circles, and community sports, the project creates safe spaces for dialogue, healing, and connection — reducing farmer–herder tensions and strengthening social cohesion.
A youth-led climate justice and peacebuilding initiative that will address climate-driven tensions between farmers and Fulbe herders in selected districts in Northern Ghana.
The project will train Climate Justice Ambassadors and mobilise communities through intergenerational dialogues, restorative healing circles, and community sports to promote climate literacy, sustainable natural resource use, and peaceful coexistence.
By empowering youth and strengthening collaboration among farmers, herders, and community leaders, RESILIENT–Ghana will help build resilient communities, reduce resource-based conflicts, and advance climate adaptation.

Insights, Stories & Perspectives from the Field
Commentary and analysis from our team on agriculture, youth empowerment, and development in Ghana.
Young agripreneurs in Ghana face a stark mismatch between calls for youth participation in agriculture and the funding available to support them — driven by hidden eligibility barriers, unrealistic capital thresholds, and limited grant volume.
Ghana's 2025 bumper harvest exposed critical weaknesses in surplus management. A GHC 300m government response stabilised prices, but structural reforms — from commodity exchanges to agro-processing incentives and export coordination — are urgently needed.
